(SF North Bay) Titanya will be teaching her popular workshop, The Passion and Duende of Zambra Mora.  Duende is what Federico Garcia Lorca describes as “shaking the body and soul of a dancer…It works on the body of a dancer as the wind works on sand”. Zambra Mora is the predecessor of Flamenco Dancing and was danced by the “Gypsies ~ Gitanos” of Southern Spain and stayed for 900 years greatly enriching music, dance and art with arabic influences.   The dance was done barefoot and the shawl, finger snapping, clapping or finger cymbals were an integral part of the dance. Zambra Mora is believed to possibly date back 700 AD when the Moors invaded Spain. The Zambra is becoming a lost art form due to the passing of so many great dancers. Titanya has researched and sought out teachers of this fiery dance for 15 years to preserve the tradition and history creating her own form of fiery soul-ful fusion.  Titanya will tell stories of the history, but also the techniques of this passionate dance.  Bring a triangle scarf (big enough to wear around the hips) and a full skirt for dancing.  Get ready to learn a sensuous and dramatic choreography.
